Cathay Pacific’s lounge at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 is set for a much-needed make-over next year.
With separate business class and first class zones, the new space will take its design cues from the warm residential vibe already seen in CX lounges at Tokyo Haneda, Bangkok, Manila and most recently The Pier First Class at Hong Kong.
It will also be around 30% larger than the current lounge, as Cathay Pacific will extend its footprint into the space previously occupied by Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris lounge, which has now shifted into Heathrow’s T2 along with almost all other Star Alliance Airlines.
Cathay Pacific lounge exec Toby Smith (above) tells Australian Business Traveller the new Heathrow T3 lounge is expected to open “in the first quarter of next year.”
“With five flights a day, Heathrow is our flagship ‘outport’ lounge” Smith says.
“It will have a first class section which will borrow some elements of The Pier First Class, although obviously on a smaller scale, while the business class lounge will follow the template you're seeing throughout our other lounges."
That will include a 'sit and slurp' Noodle Bar, in common with other new-look business lounges across the CX network.
Ahead of Heathrow’s ribbon-cutting, the airline will open renovated lounges at Taipei in November 2015 and Vancouver in “early 2016”, Smith says.
Both of those lounges will be enlarged, while Vancouver will also be relocated closer to the departure gates used by Cathay Pacific flights.
