Cathay Pacific lägger ner Hong Kong-Doha och avslutar codeshare med Qatar Airways

Cathay Pacific meddelade igår att de kommer att lägga ner Hong Kong-Doha linjen 2016-FEB-15.

Cathay Pacifickommer att behålla codeshare med Qatar Airways mellan Hong Kong - Doha men codeshare på flygningarna mellan Doha - Qatar Airways andra destinationer (bl a Doha-Stockholm, Oslo, Köpenhamn) kommer att försvinna.
Vilket innebär att man inte kommer att kunna flyga via Doha med Cathay Pacifics fare, om de inte tillåter QR flightnummer mellan Stockholm, Oslo, Köpenhamn - Doha.

Cathay Pacific to discontinue Doha service

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it will discontinue its daily flight between Hong Kong and Doha with effect from 15 February 2016. The airline said the service, which launched in March 2014, is being discontinued for commercial reasons.

The last Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong to Doha will be CX645 on 14 February 2016, while the last flight from Doha to Hong Kong will be CX640 the following day. Alternative arrangements will be made for passengers already booked on Cathay Pacific flights to and from Doha after the service comes to an end.

Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways will continue to work together as strategic airline partners within the oneworld alliance. The Cathay Pacific “CX” code will remain in place on Qatar Airways flights between Doha and Hong Kong, while the Qatar Airways “QR” code will remain on selected Cathay Pacific flights from Hong Kong to Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Japan. Effective 15 February 2016, the Cathay Pacific code will no longer go on Qatar Airways flights from Doha to other destinations.

Ærgerligt! Codeshare fungerer ellers perfekt mellem de to, f.eks. lægges CX bookningerne automatisk in i QRs bookninger (i Privileges Club) og fremkommer omgående på listen over ens kommende flyvninger med QR, dog med en anden PNR code end den som udstedes af CX. Men desværre kan man ikke opgradere med QR og Qmiles hvis biletten er udstedt af CX

Jag tror helt klart att vi kommer se/höra att Cathay kommer informera om öppnandet av nya långlinjer från Europa(och möjligtvis Norden)

Att avsluta codeshare flights från Doha och vidare (ej Hong Kong) är förståeligt med tanke på att Cathay Pacific stänger linjen mellan Hong Kong och Doha.

Det är ungefär samma sak som t ex om SAS inte flyger mellan Norden-Johannesburg själv, är det mindre intressant att ha codeshare på Johannesburg-andra destinationer med South African Airways (SA).

Det codeshare avtalet som avslutar är CX flightnummer på Qatar Airways flight från Doha till andra Qatar Airways destination förutom Hong Kong.
