Qantas has been advised that we will be the subject of union action by the Transport Workers Union on Tuesday 20 September (2011). Until then, all services will operate as normal.

Should the action go ahead, Qantas will use larger aircraft on some routes, consolidate services on others and management staff will act in operational roles to minimise the disruption to customers.

We are currently working on a new schedule which will be published in the next few days. If your travel plans are affected by the new schedule we wil contact you.

Just nu en generalstrejk i Grekland och flygtrafiken är tydligen påverkad.
Dessutom en ny varslad 24-timmarsstrejk för flygledarpersonal på söndag den 25:e som lär ge mer problem.

Jag skulle inte flyga till Grekiska storstäder på ett tag. Charter till öarna lär fungera, om inte ATC stänger totalt.

Air Canada Flight Attendant strike scheduled for Thursday, October 13, 2011

Air Canada has given notice of a strike starting 00:01 am ET (0401 GMT) Thursday October 13, 2011 by a union representing its flight attendants. CUPE, the union representing the airline's 6,800 flight attendants, rejected a tentative agreement reached with the union's negotiating committee.

The airline said it will allow a flexible rebooking policy to enable customers booked for travel over the next six days free of charge. In the event of a strike, Air Canada said it "will implement a partial schedule" including Air Canada Express flights operated by its regional partner airlines.

Last month, as negotiations were ongoing, Canada's Labour Minister Lisa Raitt vowed to step in to end any work stoppage at Air Canada to protect a fragile economic recovery. Raitt told the House of Commons that a disruption of air service "will damage Canada's economic recovery" and that if there were a work stoppage, "we will act to protect Canada's economy."

Canada's Conservative government moved Tuesday to prevent a strike Thursday by Air Canada flight attendants by sending the matter to the Canada Industrial Relations Board for review.
"While the matter is before the CIRB, there cannot be a work stoppage," Raitt said.

While the government has pledged to introduce back-to- legislation, it can’t do so this week because the House of Commons isn’t sitting. That raised the prospect that the 6,800 attendants at Montreal-based Air Canada could walk off the job on Oct. 13 before lawmakers return.
Travelers are being allowed to change flight dates over the next six days, Air Canada said on its website. The airline said it will implement a partial schedule, including flights by regional partner carriers such as Jazz Air and Sky Regional Airlines, if attendants walk out.
Air Canada said normal operations will continue in the interim.

Qantas will stop all domestic and international flights from 5pm (AEDT) on Saturday 29 October until further notice. This is in response to the damaging industrial action by three unions - the Australian Licenced Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA), the Australian International Pilots Association (AIPA) and the Transport Workers Union (TWU).

QantasLink, Jetstar, Jetconnect services, and our freight services (Express Freighters Australia and Atlas) will continue to operate as normal.
